Forged Golf and Fitness in Mequon, WI Improves Golfer's Mind, Body, and Soul.

Move Better. Play Better. Live Better.

By Brian Weis

GolfWisconsin.com had the pleasure of interviewing Andy Fish, owner of Forged Golf and Fitness in Mequon, WI. The business just recently opened to the public and due in large part to Andy's experience and passion, we believe it will be a long-term success.

Please provide a brief explanation of your product/service.
Forged Golf and Fitness was created out of the belief that if you move better you will play better and your life will be better. We offer group and individual golf and fitness training programs. We also custom fit golf equipment. We, in total, develop an efficient holistic program for golfers to realize their potential. Our programs incorporate strength and flexibility training with swing development to simultaneously work on your weaknesses and build a repeatable and efficient swing.

How did the idea come to fruition?
I have been coaching motivated golfers for 20 years. For the last 15 years, I have been developing programs that look at every aspect of the golfer's game. In 2010 I developed Total Golf. Total Golf was an approach where we developed a player based on their personal goals, time, fitness and technique. Every golfer that worked at the program saw quick and lasting improvement. In 2011, I met Mike Steinmetz (owner of Pure Fitness Mequon) and we quickly realized we had the same vision of helping people move better, play better and live better. We opened Forged Golf and Fitness in the Fall of 2018 which realizes a dream Mike and I had to create a facility where our community can gather to work on their personal goals.

What plans do you have to try and grow the game through your business?
When people move and feel better they will play more golf. Less pain and fewer injuries will help golfers play more rounds and enjoy the game more. We plan on bringing more players to the game by promoting the health benefits of golf, physical and mental.

What aspects of your business get you the most excited?
Helping people enjoy their life more. It doesn't get any better than that.

Conversely, what are the biggest challenges?
Changing the way people perceive golf. Golf can be a part of an active lifestyle and it can also be a way to unplug from our hectic lives.

If golfers haven't experienced your business yet, what should they expect?
We bring a golfer in and get a baseline through our Total golf analysis. We look at their fitness, swing and equipment. Then, we develop a program based on the golfer's time and goals.

Do you feel there is a large need in the area that your business can serve?
Yes and especially in colder climates where golfers feel like they have to start over in Spring. Working on your body and game all year will let you hit the ground running when the snow melts. Our High School athletes will be prepared to play their best when the season starts which is imperative for a successful season.

Where do you envision the business taking you in five years?
We want to bring our programs and message to as many golfers as possible. We can truly help golfers anywhere the game is played, practiced or talked about.

Anything else you'd like to add about the business?

We don't just cater to golfers. Our Pure Fitness team offers one-on-one personal training session for all individuals as well as specializing in sport performance programs for athletes middle school age and older. They also offer group fitness classes and power-lifting. You can get more details at www.purefitnesswi.com

How can golfers contact you/the business to see what the buzz is all about?
